descriptive

Values are defined in literature as everything from eternal ideas to behavioral actions. As used here values refer to criteria for determining levels of goodness, worth or beauty.

If you continue to work at something you don't like, then you are wasting your time and are working below your capacity. The result: boredom, frustration, depression, anxiety. If this sounds familiar, it doesn't have to! visit our career center

How would you define values?

Values can be many different things. They can range from a vague set of feelings to a system that rates different aspects of a person's life. A synonym for values could be beliefs. Many peoples' values are their beliefs, what they feel is right or wrong.

Letter As a result of your experiences and influences you've developed attitudes and likes and dislikes for certain activities and concepts. We might call these "values"; things that are important to you. It might be helping people, making a lot of money or having to feel important and the like.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER

university students

Most of us learned our values - or morals, if you prefer - at home, at church or synagogue, at school. But, where are our children learning their values?

Maybe from parents, teachers and religious leaders, but society has changed. Too often young people today are most influenced by what they see and hear on television or on the street.

'Spyware' lets Internet advertisers get inside your computer

Let's say you're a sports nut and you visit lots of sports sites on the Internet.

Suddenly, something strange happens. The advertising you see on the Internet, even on non-sports sites, tends to be about sports. Can this be a coincidence?
No, you may have a program on your computer that is telling another computer on the Internet to send you sports-related ads. This program, known as adware (or spyware), tracks your preferences on the Internet. It then helps tailor an advertising program for you.

You probably believe that you should have been told that you were receiving adware with your download. And, in fact, you probably were told in the freeware program's terms of service or license agreement, but if you're like most people, you don't read these documents.

Adware programs are similar to Trojan horses: Programs placed on a user's computer with the intent of stealing data. Trojans find an open port in the user's networking setup and insert the Trojan horse into the computer. It then sends data back to the intruder's computer. That data can include passwords, financial account numbers and other important information. Obviously, such information could be used to rob the user blind.

Adware doesn't steal data, at least according to the makers. It tracks your Web interests. Advertisers are seeking demographic data so they can provide you with custom ads. The programs send information back to a server somewhere on the Internet. This is their weakness and the spot where you can stop them. The key is a firewall.

Anyone connected to the Internet today should have a firewall. These programs block adware, Trojan horses and anything else from sending data from your computer to the Internet without your permission.
